A little bit of insight as to what goes on in a RAAM race. Below you will see text alerts sent out by race headquarters (HQ) receive to make sure we are Aware of hazards ahead. Take a look – you’ll see, it just adds to the ‘crazy factor’ of this event

We have reports of dust devils going into Congress. A dust devil can be extremely dangerous and will pick up a rider if it is big enough. Be careful.

TS13-TS14 Wild horses in road around mile 19.2.

Watch for packs of wild dogs on the Navajo Reservation at all times. Especially around towns and buildings.

We have a report of a fire between TS8-TS9 at mile 45.9. Air quality is still fine but firefighters are staging so please be careful in that area.

We have cows in the road at Mile 32 between TS11-TS12. Livestock can be encountered at any time – use caution.

Racers coming into Durango – There is severe weather at about 14 miles from Durango with wind, rain, and hail. Use extreme caution.
